REFLECTION - ON THE STREET

1.Did you encounter any difficult or challenging moments taking photographs on the street today? Going forward in this project, what might you need to do to ensure you are working in a way that is morally and ethically sound?

Yes I think I had some challenges, for example I chose the rule "use flash", but the time we chose to shoot was in the middle of the day, the sun was shining and the whole environment was very bright, which didn't work very well for the flash and didn't produce better results, I think flash is more suited for the night or darker environments, so then I tried to reduce the brightness and use my hand around the lens to shoot, and the results were very surprising. I think I just have to do my best not to invade other people's privacy and not to break into private houses, and if there is a need to photograph someone, I will ask for permission before I do so.

2.In working to disrupt the conventional rules of photography, what did you discover about using the camera in alternative ways? How might you take this exploration even further?

I found that camera or mobile phone is used as a tool and means of image recording, it doesn't need to be so complicated or expensive to decorate the tool itself, but rather the tool should be used to figure out how to create interesting images, today I just used my mobile phone to shoot and I found that just by using different techniques or some interesting basic rules of shooting, such as time-lapse/flash usage/photography angle/composition... I can make very interesting images. Composition... it is possible to make very interesting images. The second rule I chose is "symmetry", when I walk on the street I find a lot of things are neatly arranged, but not absolutely 100% symmetrical, which makes it more difficult for me to take pictures, but I solved the problem perfectly by adjusting the angle and proportion of the picture in post-processing, which is also a way I think to get what I want. It's a way I've explored to get the image I want.

3.What stories did you start to tell today? How might these be extended and amplified as you through this project?

Today I'm going to start talking about myself and producing visual work in my own way and aesthetics, for this project I want to start by extracting some keywords, either elements that I included in today's shoot or things that I was inspired by through the shoot, for example in today's project I like to shoot things very large and very close up, and also add the effect of a flash, which will make the image blurry and darker, and if it's in a more darker it will make the colours in the picture brighter and darker all around, highlighting the centre of the picture more. Finally, these keywords will be recombined and then find the corresponding to design the shooting programme.
